Overall: This is a control combo deck. Leviathan + graple shot being your 'combo'. The core of the deck is control combo. Dont activate leviathan unless you can at least hit twice. Try to door with leviathan combo by sneaking 4 damage somewhere. Use lightbolt/graple/firebolt/kobolds as finishers.

Note: This is not an easy deck to play. Sometimes you draw the wrong half of your deck against a matchup and lose but site placement can help mitigate that quite a bit.

Matchup Info:

Deathspeaker - slight disadvantage, dont feed them free creatures. Save common sense for early summoning/jihads. play curse on you in the endgame to prevent jhin OTK for a turn or two before they have the mana. Use courtesan to waste their resources once they've started to draw a lot or door them with their own jhin! Non jhin lists are favored.

Sorcerer (Cute/Goblins) - unfavored. Their general gameplan ignores some of your defences. Mariners curse and kobolds are your mvps. It really comes down to if you can draw what you need.

Sorcerer (fury road) - slightly favored. Jihad and a good rift valley will easily tilt it in their favor

Sorcerer (Air/Earth) - slight favored. straightforward matchup

Seer(Yg combo) - playable if you tech for it... If you see seer, dig for common sense/puffer fish early and dont deploy leviathan until pop. If you don't it goes from bad to absolutely terrible.

Other(yg combo) - even / slight advantage. The weakened beatdown/control strategy is something you can easily get ahead of and they will feel safe even with an empty board. Easy to OTK.

Battlemage - Favored, frogs and wheenies stem life lost early. Common sense package destroys artifact based BM.

Avatar earth - Slightly Favored. Displacing your lands puts you on the backfoot early and easily makes up for them having dead removal. The fire variant is harder to deal with as your chumpers die efficiently.

Avatar of air (air only) - Slight disadvantage. The free movement allows their already aggressive deck to be slightly faster. Don't give them free sites to attack or place harmful artifiacts. Muligan aggressively for eggs.

Sorcerer (spirits) - Strong disadvantage/slight disadvantage. Charge and stealth is a problem. If they are running haunts the matchup is even because that deck is a lot worse than big midrange spirits.

Deathspeaker(spirits) - Favored. Clumsy early aggro is easy to chump/deal with and you door them before their top end occurs. Don't feed them free creatures.

Sorcerer/PF(spell control) - Even. Lack of healing means all their spells are good when cast on you unless you draw your eggs. Threats are stick or do something as they come down so its usually always ok to let them die to removal.

Flamespeaker - Even. Can easily lose to great starts (jihad mainly) especially if you don't place your sites correctly

Big water decks - Slight disadvantage. You draw more cards and have decent cards against them. Can't deal with submerge so play around that and it's not bad. Use mariners curse to delay their attacks until they start stockpiling submerge minions. Really its who draws better. You win sideboard hard.

Enchantress (control) - advantage, you have more card advantage and the removal they run generally is reactive while also being threat light. Easy to OTK

Enchantress (aggro/midrange) - slight disadvantage / disadvantage depending on flavor. Some of your removal is hard to use on their threats and often gum up the board.

Mulligans:

-Mulligan lands aggressively for leviathan or threshold if you happen to draw princess in your opener.

-Generally mulligan sites until you hit island leviathan/tadpole pool for placement at site (2).

-Mulligan aggressively for the matchup in the spell card slots but keep obviously (slow) powerful cards if you feel comfortable with the sites you have.

-I generally snap keep princess, curse, land surveyor, and egg

Minor note: Don't play non water sites at 2 or 3 if you are playing something you suspect has rift valley.

1 = dual land / leviathan

2 = bottomless pit / tadpole pool / geistwood ideally / leviathan / any water site

3 = anything, ideally leviathan

4 = non water sites because its easy to protect

General tips:

-You dont win early

-Try to stall your opponent with land placement and chump blockers with the defensive site placement stated above.

- leviathans + graple or a big ruler of thule turn

-try not to activate your leviathans right away unless you can door or the coast is clear (opponent is hellbent or is unlikely to have a good answer)

-Beware of rift valley on a non water site placed forward. Rift valley is the best anything against you.

Specific Tips:

-turtles + manuscript is a draw every turn without it dying.

-Quarrelsome kobolds can safely be placed on the backrow to setup ruler of thule/polar explorer turn

-Kobolds can be used to kill your minions on geistwood if you dont need to block if you opt to run it.

-if you arent feeling extreme pressure and have angels egg + frogs, submerge them so you dont get them disenchanted

-atlantean fate can clutch out your 8 water pips when you draw a lot of non water sites or make it safe to run out leviathans into bury.
