The goal is to play Overflow/Landmass as often as possible to prevent your opponent from playing sites. Mulligan aggressively. If you have a Overflow/Landmass in your opening hand, draw a site for your first draw. Otherwise, draw a spell first.

If you go first, it is possible to cut your opponent down to 4 sites maximum. If you go second, you need a Onyx Core/Aquamarine Core/Key to the City. If you get the wrong elemental core, you can use Deep Sea/Fertile Earth to quickly get you the correct threshold.

Helpful Hob is not nearly as good, or as fast, but Mix Aqua can help play Helpful Hob or Overflow early to still ramp and pressure the board.

For example, if your avatar is located at square 18, then play your third site to square 12 or 14 and play Overflow/Landmass one square forward (squares 7 or 9, respectively). Each time you ramp forward like this you effectively cut your opponent off from 2 squares they can play in so long as you eventually play a site sideways to cut them off.

If your opponent chooses to draw sites in order to prevent you from cutting them off (if you fail to play Overflow/Landmass/Helpful Hob on every turn), then they have chosen to not draw a spell effectively giving you extra time to reach high mana counts to play your large minions.

When you play your first Overflow/Landmass you reach 4 mana. On your next turn you can go to 5, use Common Sense, play another Overflow/Landmass, then have 3 spells you can banish to Archimago to play another Overflow/Landmass. This allows you to do it 3 turns in a row starting at turn 3.

If you get lucky with multiples, Mix Aqua, Cores, etc. you can do it multiple times in one turn or perform the whole cycle a turn early making it very possible to limit your opponent to a maximum of 4 sites. Realistically, you limit your opponent to 5 or 6.

The deck has a monster sub-theme:

• Sacrifice minions to play Shoggoths with Elder Ruins

• Transform Land Surveyors into monsters using Sinister Pond

• Get high water threshold for Island Leviathan

• Use Monstermorphosis to play large monsters early if you can't cut them off or generate mana

This deck is a control deck, if you can't ramp early, instead:

• Remove their minions with Drown/Bury/Pollimorph/Lacuna Entity

• Downgrade their big minions into Horrible Hybrids

• Delay their attacks with Border Militia/Gift of the Frog

• Quickly bring your opponent to death's door using a big minion and Helpful Hob

Budget options:

• Ten-tonne Slug, Gnarled Wendigo, Hearkening Kraken instead of other large monsters
