If paying 4 mana for a 4 Power Unit with Ward is so good, why not get as many of them in your deck as possible?

3 Lugbog Cat

2 Gargantula (on Pond)

2 Sacred Stag

2 Paladins of Bazier

If you play the 10 Beasts above with Pond it's like you get the Ward for free.

The Villages are your main tool to survive early aggro. Putting wards on your foot soldiers is just a great way to buy time before you get out your 4 Power Units.

Aside from that, there are the usual Coy Nixie + Thin Ice shenanigans. Lord of Lies is still ridiculously good.

Other than that, there are lots of 'tricky' units that will present problems for your opponent to deal with. Having wards on these units just makes them harder to deal with:
