Deck Overview

This is a midrange deck that applies a lot of pressure with its beefy minions and with a very big Avatar of Earth]].

You want to play all your earth sites near your Avatar and any air sites away from you so you can maximize your Avatar's power, and you want to play sites fast. That's possible thanks to [[Frontier Settlers]] and, to a certain extent, [[Land Surveyor]], which can be used for chip damage or for chump blocking from turns 1-4, before you start summoning your bigger threats and before your Avatar becomes incredibly powerful. Ideally, by turn 7 you'll have at least 5 earth sites near you, and will thus have at least 6 power, allowing you to basically get the enemy Avatar to death's door in two turns (depending on how much damage you've dealt at that point).

Ideally, you want to use [[Atlas Wanderers]] or [[Earthquake]] to shift an enemy site to the square right in front of your Avatar (the starting location). If you're playing against a deck with many earth sites, you can easily go into their territory with [[Grapple Shot]] or [[Blink]], as your damage output will be pretty close to what you'd have if you were in your own territory, surrounded by earth sites.

Make good use of your Villages by either using your Foot Soldiers defensively for blocking (if you're behind) or for annoying your opponent with chip damage (if you're applying pressure). Windmill is a perfect turn-2 site if you want to develop Frontier Settlers or a Land Surveyor. It's usually better to give up on the second Foot Soldier to develop your two drops. Towers aren't essential for our strategy, and we'd often rather find Windmills instead. Avoid placing them near your Avatar. They are a great 4th site to play if you want to drop Atlas Wanderers a turn earlier or if you want to go for more explosive turns with multiple threats or Grapple Shot shenanigans. Sometimes it's okay to play one turn 3 near you to play one of your beefy 4-drops. Forgoing that extra power isn't the end of the world if that puts you ahead, and you can always shift things around with Atlas Wanderers and Earthquake.

Try to bait removal with your Maidens, Unicorns, or Prince, as they won't give your opponent tempo advantage. This might also allow your 4+ cost minions to stick around longer and apply greater pressure.

You can usually mulligan [[Holy Ground]] away. They are basically here for the matchup against a well-piloted Burn deck that might be able to control the board and then start outputting a lot of damage in the mid to late game. It can perhaps catch the opponent off guard in a difficult match where they are trying to set up for lethal, and it can also be helpful if you decide to use your Avatar to get rid of a unit with 3-5 power.

Bosk Trolls weren't great top decks and weren't necessarily great early game either as they are very vulnerable to Bolts and Battlemage. Land Surveyors are a great +1 card advantage since it allows you to keep drawing off the spellbook, but they aren't as good as Frontier Settlers and they are bad topdecks. So we're just running a few as a slightly worse Frontier Settlers. We're trading these for more high-impact cards that will help us survive longer and fight in the midgame.
