How are you dealing with Battlemage?
@Maverick5 months ago
Played against this deck in person! It's like playing defense against Shaq, but Shaq is an animated Wildfire and he's dribbling a Rolling Boulder instead of a basketball.
@Zalem5 months ago
Battlemage is a weak matchup for sure. You wanna try to Blink or Riptide out of Grapple Shot range early and basically just race to Deaths Door. I'm planning to add Wills o the Wisp to help that matchup and the matchup with Avatar of Earth.

With Deathspeaker and the Fire/Earth aggro decks seeming to be a high percentage of the meta (and even if they weren't), is it worth playing Mirages instead of the two Deserts to try and re-buy the Pillar? Not sure if the Desert ping for 1 is doing much other than taking out the occasional foot soldier.

Deserts are very good at clearing the way so your big auras can attack. They can also help one of the 4 power auras take out a 5 power minion or a Firebolts take out 2 smaller minions etc. In my experience Mirage is just too slow most of the time and it doesn't do anything the turn it comes into play. Sometimes the only thing you need to remove a minion is 1 extra damage and the Deserts fill that roll nicely.

March of the Mortals 2024 1st Place Decklist. Congratulations Zalem!

So the wisps are here just to be a recurring trash blocker against Battlemage and Avatar of earth ?
@Zalem2 months ago
Mainly, yes. They also do a good job at threatening an Avatar on DD and getting in ping damage here and there. A lot of times they act as a counterspell for Grapple Shot since they cant just be attacked.
@Tacocat2 months ago
Do you plan to attack with Abundance? It will deal 5 damage, or take out a minion, but then your opponent has two more mana. Would you use a riptide or blink to get it back?
@Zalem2 months ago
Yes I do! I usually set up a 2x2 in a corner and place sites out from there in such a way so that when I attack I'm only on 1 of the opponents sites. I also use Silence to sometimes turn off Abundance.
@ShadowStormer2 months ago
I''m not a rule expert, but does the Wisps really "counter" Grabbleshot? Grabbleshot shoots a projectile and then the unit may strike. It does not say anything about "attack", so I would assume the Wisps' ability won't trigger
@Zalem2 months ago
What I mean is it often takes a Grapple Shot just to kill it so it soaks up a Grapple Shot.
@Zalem2 months ago
I addes Chains though so Wisps had to come out. K Mech is in now which will help the T Storm hit Avatars that like to get in close. Also added Disenchant to hit Cores, Angels Egg, Flaming Sword, Mechanism etc

What happend with all the auras? Wherent there like 15 last time i checked? What has changed?
@Zalem21 days ago
Nah there were just 11. I took out 1 Tstorm for more early game control
