Hi everyone!

This is a combo/control "lands" deck that utilizes [[Elementalist]]'s passive threshold in order to play a variety of sites that help us to construct an unfair winning board-state.

The core concept is to set up a [[Sinkhole]]/[[Scorched Earth]] and [[Roots of Yggdrasil]] board reset, whilst retaining [[Bedrock]] to immediately play [[Daperyll Vampire]] or to play [[Roaming Monster]] on the Rubble that the opposing Avatar is atop.

Ideally we would have a [[Bedrock]] in play, which would allow us to immediately play a [[Daperyll Vampire]] after activating of Sinkhole or casting Scorched Earth. However oftentimes simply destroying all of our opponent's sites is more than enough to swing the game in our favor.

Thoughts after testing:

Removed a [[Windmill]] for [[Gothic Tower]], the towers allows for a very smooth turn 1 Common sense fetching land surveyors for turn 2.
Bottomless Pits are underperforming against our bad matchups [[Sparkmage]] and [[Battlemage]], perhaps will replace with [[Holy Ground]], [[Gnome Hollows]], [[Observatory]] or the Fire maybeboard after some testing.
Sinkhole is very consistent, the full set of Scorched Earth might not be a necessity.
The play experience is quite negative since the combo has very little interaction with the opponent. Not the best deck for a casual/friendly setting.

The list:

No cores?!

We are currently testing running no cores in the deck, it was observed that we seldom wanted them early as they would be destroyed during the Yggdrasil trigger, and they were also fairly poor late since we are fairly spell starved due to only drawing sites early. Might be tweaked to include a [[Ruby Core]] if we decide the Fire maybeboard is better overall post further testing.

Why all the weird ordinary singletons?

We are running 4 copies of [[Common Sense]], which allows us to have a fairly extensive toolbox for various situations and matchups, as well as to tutor up [[Lightning Bolt]] and [[Firebolts]] to end the game during Death's Door.

The Common Sense Package:

[[Disenchant]] - For our opponents aura's and artifacts. Particularly important against Enchantress or Battlemage.
[[Lightning Bolt]] - To win the game once the opponent's on Death's Door, or emergency removal in a pinch.
[[Firebolts]] - Same as above.
[[Bury]] - Generic Removal.
[[Land Surveyor]] - Good for blocking or for drawing towards Yggdrasil.
[[Apprentice Wizard]] - Just a dude that cycles a card.
[[Tufted Turtles]] - Our best friend against Battlemage and Sparkmage. On his shell he holds the Earth.
[[Roaming Monster]] - Setting up to play this immediately on your opponent's piece of rubble post wipe. Fairly potent.
[[Highland Clansmen]] - Finisher, kinda suspect currently, might end up being cut for [[Entangle Terrain]] for more stall.
[[Blizzard]] - Stalls a turn against aggro lists.

Note: Run [[Disenchant]] instead of [[Dispel]] and [[Blizzard]] instead of [[Sandstorm]] because they are more likely to be discounted off [[Philosopher's Stone]].

The essential sites:

[[Roots of Yggdrasil]] - The spine of the deck, our entire game-plan revolves around it and drawing into the single copy of it from our 20-card atlas.
[[Sinkhole]] - is the easiest way to uproot Yggdrasil, but we also have two copies of [[Scorched Earth]] as a backup in our Spellbook.
[[Bedrock]] - Cannot be destroyed, and way we retain a site in play post uprooting which allows us to play a minion atop it.
[[Crossroads]] - The best way to search our atlas for our pieces.
[[Pillar of Zeiros]] - A site that can singlehandedly swing the matchup against aggro in our favor post wipe.
[[Mirror Realm]] - Extremely flexible. It copying Crossroads allows us to potentially go through our entire Atlas looking for Yggy by turn 3.

Gameplay:

We will be drawing sites for our start of turn draws for at least the first 3-4 turns. Ideally we either have the sites we need in hand, or are playing crossroads to search for them. We also want to place a Bedrock or two down for the eventual wipe.

DO NOT just toss Roots of Yggdrasil out as a regular site.

The wipe works much better when you catch your opponent off-guard. It also leaves you open to getting blown out by [[Smokestacks of Gnaak]] or [[Atlantean Fate]].

Try to innocently set a Sinkhole down and wait for your opponent to commit. Using your avatar to draw a site instead of playing a site T2/T3 is perfectly fine if you already have Yggdrasil in hand or want to set up for a [[Primordial spring]] draw early.

What if my opponent doesn't commit to the board?:

Start drawing spells after you draw a Bedrock or two, our game plan has not changed, we are still looking to wipe the board and play a minion with our remaining mana. Our opponent may have all the resources he needs in hand, but will still require a few turns to rebuild and fend off our minion.

We are now looking to use [[Craterize]] to simply One-Two punch our opponent out of the game after softening them up with attacks.

Mulligans:

Sites:

We are trying to dig for Roots of Yggdrasil, so keep [[Crossroads]] to help with that.

Priority:

Yggdrasil > crossroads > everything else.

Exception: Keep a copy of Sinkhole if you see both copies of it or Roots in your opening hand.

Spells:

[[Land Surveyor]] is our highest priority keep, followed by [[Grandmaster Wizard]], [[Common Sense]], [[Daperyll Vampire]] and [[Angel's Egg]].

Priority:

Land surveyor > Grandmaster Wizard > Common Sense = Daperyll Vampire > Angel's Egg > Everything else.
