Druid - Beast Build 02/15/2025

This build is trying to swarm the field with low costing high power beasts, through exploiting the 1 cost 2 power beasts from Hamlet, or the 3 cost 4 power unicorn or lugbog cat. You want to constantly be maintaining minions and applying pressure and control from your opponent. For the early game Tawny is constantly always attacking a nearby site. You can also swarm your low cost minions to a single site and cast a snowball for high damage. Common sense will always be searching for more low cost minions, or removal spells when needed. You will also want to draw into Drums of Doom, and transform Druid to his Thorns mode for the ultimate control win con. Having this relic and moving Druid up to the 2nd middle row of the board will grant you the most control for every nearby minion your opponent sends will be inflicted with lethal damage.

This deck has a lot of strengths. You have very low average mana cost, which will always allow you to play your minions when needed. You can have a resurgence with Lady Iseult, and Sir Tom Thumb. Bower of Bliss can turn off a lot of your harder matchups, especially the mortal spellcasters in Archi/Witch. Along with making any Templar matchups essentially vanilla mortals. The mana base is very very balanced, hard bricking on threshold’s with this list. Drums of doom paired with Ring of Morrigan, Druid in his Thorns mode, and Briar Patch just makes it very very difficult for your opponent to start moving to your side of the board, or applying a death blow with any minion. You will utilize Tufted Turtles for absorbing damage and sticking around, also using for blocking. Porcupine can be used to inflict lethal to any high power minion your opponent may have.

This deck is weak to broad removal, and targeting damage. Earthquake, Craterize, Poison Nova, and other multi minion removal magics. Another larger weakness is high power minions. You do have target removal, but defending against a high power minion will require multiple beasts to do so. Another weakness is life gain, Grain Sparrow is the only life gain in the deck at the moment.

There are multiple strategies for this build, the overall generic linear > Drums of Doom, transform Druid > control the board. You are doing this while also applying pressure with swarming of low cost high power beasts. So far every game has played slightly differently, but fundamentally it remains the same. Having multiple beasts out, each attacking different sites, your opponent won’t be able to keep up with the amount of bodies you are putting out, and as a result some attacks will be getting through. Start adding those up turn after turn, 2,4,6 damage a turn for a few turns in a row adds up. Getting Questing Beast out with 5 power, stealth and lethal as well as taking a free step at the end of your turn. Or playing a hamlet in your back row, casting ruler of Thul, and then spamming 2 or 3 “0 cost” 2 power beasts that can jump right to your opponent's back row for damage.

For the opening hand, you want to generally have at least one “1 cost, 2 power beast” and a common sense, or generic removal. For your atlas, you want to have a hamlet, and at least some way to get all 3 threshold, either through 2 dual site, or the 3 or 4 threshold site. Just making sure you have access to all 3 elements is what’s important. How you get them is not necessary.

Although, if you know you are playing Archi or Templar, you want to see Bower :)
